VLC 3.0.22 Adds AMD GPU Frame Rate Doubler and dav1d-all-layers Option

VLC 3.0.22, the latest stable release of the open-source media player, was made available today, December 03, 2025. This update introduces an "AMD GPU Frame Rate Doubler," a new feature designed to enhance video playback smoothness on systems equipped with AMD graphics processors. Additionally, VLC 3.0.22 incorporates a "dav1d-all-layers option." This new setting allows for more flexible and potentially improved decoding of AV1 video streams using the dav1d decoder, expanding support and performance for this modern video compression format.
