Linux 6.19-rc2 Released, Stable Version Targeting Early February

Linux 6.19-rc2 was released today, December 22, 2025, marking the second weekly release candidate for the upcoming kernel version. This release is now available for testing by developers and users in preparation for its stable debut. According to Phoronix, "The second weekly release candidate of Linux 6.19 is now available for testing in leading up to the stable release in early February." The development cycle continues towards a targeted stable release in early February 2026. This release candidate allows for further bug identification and stabilization before the final version becomes available.
