Phoronix recently published a benchmark comparison evaluating the performance of Transparent Hugepages (THP) with "madvise" and "always" settings on Linux 6.18 LTS. The review highlights that several Linux distributions, such as Fedora Workstation and Ubuntu, typically configure THP to "madvise" by default. In contrast, other distributions like CachyOS and openSUSE default to an "always" THP strategy.
