Budgie 11 Development Begins, Adopting Qt 6 for Modular Design

Development for the upcoming Budgie 11 desktop environment has commenced, focusing on a significant architectural shift. The project will port its components to Qt 6, moving away from its traditional GTK foundation, and feature a more modular design. This development kickoff, announced today, closely follows the release of Budgie 10.10 yesterday, which was notable as the first Wayland-only version of the desktop environment. The decision to rebuild Budgie on the Qt 6 framework marks a new direction for the project's underlying technology stack.
