Improvements for virtual monitor and remote desktop functionality have been merged into the Mutter compositor for the upcoming GNOME 50 release. These changes, merged today, add HiDPI and monitor mode emulation support to the screen-casting API and DevKit. Phoronix reported that these additions are "in time for next month's GNOME 50 release".
