This development sees CachyOS dethrone Arch Linux, which had maintained the top position on the gaming compatibility database since late 2021. Boiling Steam observed CachyOS's consistent month-over-month growth, noting that they "had already seen signs that it would be cannibalizing Arch in the end of 2025, but I seriously did not expect it to pass Arch so quickly." The report suggests CachyOS's rapid ascent in user share among ProtonDB's reported Linux gamers is partly due to strong community recommendations.
