AMD Adds GFX12.1, VCN 5.0.2, JPEG 5.0.2 IP Support to Linux 7.1 DRM-Next

AMD today submitted a new set of kernel graphics and compute driver changes to DRM-Next. These updates, sent ahead of the Linux 7.1 merge window next month, include further enablement for the GFX12.1 GPU architecture. Additionally, the patches introduce initial support for VCN 5.0.2 and JPEG 5.0.2 IP blocks. This work ensures that upcoming AMD hardware featuring these new integrated blocks will be properly supported by the Linux kernel, providing video decode/encode and image acceleration capabilities for future AMD products.
