Wayland Protocols Receives xx-fractional-scale-v2 Merge Request for Improved Scaling

A new experimental protocol, xx-fractional-scale-v2, has been proposed to address existing limitations with Wayland fractional scaling. A merge request for this protocol was opened today within Wayland Protocols, aiming to provide a more robust solution for display scaling on Wayland environments. The proposal seeks to enhance the user experience for those requiring non-integer display scaling ratios. Concurrently, a KDE KWin compositor merge request has already been submitted for review that includes an implementation of the xx-fractional-scale-v2 protocol. This parallel development suggests that initial support for the improved scaling mechanism may become available in KDE Plasma once the protocol is adopted.
