New NTFS Filesystem Driver Pull Request Submitted for Linux 7.1 Merge Window

A pull request introducing a new, modern NTFS filesystem driver was submitted today for the Linux 7.1 kernel merge window. This new driver aims to provide an improved Linux NTFS experience compared to the existing NTFS3 driver. The NTFS3 driver, which was upstreamed by Paragon Software several years ago, has seen limited feature progress since its initial inclusion. Linus Torvalds has not yet commented on whether he will merge the newly submitted driver. This development could significantly update how Linux interacts with NTFS-formatted storage.
