Proton 11.0-beta1 Rebased on Wine 11.0, Adds Broad Game Compatibility
Valve and CodeWeavers today released Proton 11.0-beta1, marking the first beta milestone for the Steam Play compatibility layer. This new version is rebased against upstream Wine 11.0, forming the foundation for future Proton updates. The release significantly expands game compatibility, making titles such as X-Plane 12, Gothic 1 Classic, Breath of Fire IV, and Deadly Premonition newly playable. Additionally, games like DCS World Steam Edition, METAL GEAR SURVIVE, and Warhammer: Vermintide 2, which previously required Proton Experimental, are now supported. The update also includes several fixes and improvements. Video playback was resolved in She Sees Red, and rendering of certain symbols was fixed for the Ukrainian language option in Chambers. Text-to-speech accessibility was enabled for Pentiment and Grounded, and a voice chat issue in the Phasmophobia lobby for desktop players was addressed. Improvements to Rockstar Launcher rendering were also implemented.
