Box64 0.4.2 Introduces POWER PPC64LE Backend and Proton 11 Support
The Box64 project recently released version 0.4.2, which includes initial development work on a POWER PPC64LE backend. This update also brings support for SteamRT3 and Proton 11, enhancing compatibility for gaming and other applications. Box64 is designed to enable the execution of x86_64 Linux binaries on various non-x86_64 CPU architectures, broadening software availability beyond native builds. The project continues its efforts to achieve similar goals to FEX-Emu, which "has been garnering a lot of attention due to being sponsored by Valve and slated to be used by the Steam Frame for running Linux x86_64 binaries on AArch64." Box64's ongoing development with the POWER PPC64LE backend and improved Proton support extends x86_64 binary compatibility to a wider array of hardware platforms.
