Linux Kernel 7.1 Released With Graphics, Rust, SoC Enhancements
The Linux kernel 7.1 has been released, bringing a range of updates across various subsystems. Key improvements in this version include significant enhancements to graphics capabilities, further integration and support for the Rust programming language, and advancements in System-on-Chip (SoC) support. Additional improvements in kernel 7.1 span areas such as filesystems, networking, scheduling, and general hardware enablement. Collabora contributed 65 patches from 16 engineers to this release, focusing their efforts on the Panthor graphics driver, the Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) subsystem, and drivers for Rockchip and MediaTek SoCs, alongside other general kernel driver fixes.
