Broadcom Pursues Zero-Copy Buffer Sharing for VMware Linux VMs

Broadcom is currently developing support for zero-copy buffer sharing within VMware virtualization on Linux. This ongoing work aims to enable direct buffer exchange between virtual machines (VMs) and the host hypervisor. The implementation is intended to provide "an efficiency and performance win" for VMware Linux users by reducing data duplication and overhead typically associated with inter-process communication. This development targets enhancements for virtualized environments running on the Linux platform.
