System76 today released COSMIC Epoch 1.1, marking the first minor version update to its Rust-based desktop environment since the December 1.0 debut. The update introduces COSMIC Monitor, a new native system monitoring tool built with the Iced toolkit. This application is intended to replace the GTK-based GNOME System Monitor in Pop!_OS 24. COSMIC Epoch 1.1 also includes various compositor improvements, additional fixes, and fine-tuning. System76 has adopted a new versioning strategy, stating they will now "increment the minor version regularly in order to allow for mid-release patch versions if necessary" for future releases.
