Mesa Rusticl Achieves First OpenCL 3.1 Conformance on Apple M1/M2 via Asahi Linux

Khronos has listed the first conformant OpenCL 3.1 implementation, approximately two months after the OpenCL 3.1 standard was announced in May. This initial conformance for the new OpenCL specification, which focuses on AI and HPC workloads, has been achieved by Apple Silicon M1 and M2 graphics. The implementation operates on Asahi Linux using the Mesa Rusticl driver, successfully passing the OpenCL 3.1 conformance test suite. This development marks an important step for open-source GPU compute capabilities on Apple's ARM-based hardware platforms.
