The PoCL (Portable Computing Language) project has recently released PoCL 7.2-RC1, a release candidate now available for testing. This version brings official OpenCL 3.0 conformance for execution on RISC-V and x86_64 CPUs. PoCL is an OpenCL implementation primarily designed for CPU-based execution. Its architecture also extends OpenCL functionality to other platforms, including Level Zero, NVIDIA GPUs, and remote devices or hardware, achieved through alternative LLVM back-ends. The achievement of OpenCL 3.0 conformance for these CPU architectures marks a significant step for portable compute capabilities.
