D7VK 1.1 Released with Experimental Direct3D 6 Frontend and D3D7 Fixes
DXVK that implements Direct3D 6 and 7 APIs on top of Vulkan for Linux.">D7VK 1.1 was released today, December 29, 2025, introducing an experimental Direct3D 6 frontend. This update also includes various fixes for its existing Direct3D 7 implementation. D7VK is a fork of DXVK, designed to provide support for older Direct3D APIs, specifically Direct3D 7 and now Direct3D 6, on Linux through the Vulkan API. This project aims to enable "retro classic gaming" on modern Linux systems, complementing the coverage provided by DXVK for Direct3D 8-11 and VKD3D-Proton for Direct3D 12. Its development enhances the ecosystem for running older Windows games on Linux, expanding compatibility for a wider range of titles.
