Lutris 0.5.20 Enhances Proton Integration, Adds Wine Wayland Driver Option

Lutris 0.5.20, an open-source Linux game manager, was released today. The update focuses on enhancing integration with various emulators and compatibility layers, particularly Proton. Phoronix noted it brings "new features that further enhance the integration with different emulators and compatibility layers." Proton-GE launched via umu is now the default, with umu managing its updates. The release addresses Proton integration bugs, ensuring Proton-specific fixes are applied and settings like Esync, Fsync, and DXVK are passed directly. DXVK's integrated D8VK will also be enabled for Proton. Lutris 0.5.20 introduces an option in the Wine runner to select Wine's 'Wayland driver,' offering more control for users on Wayland compositors. Additional changes include improved media management, an option for setting emulator BIOS file locations, and updates to Itch.io and Flathub API integrations.
