Microsoft Updates DXGKRNL Linux Driver Patches After Four Years

Microsoft has today posted a new version of its Linux kernel patches for the WSL.">DXGKRNL driver. This update comes exactly four years after the prior version, addressing the DirectX kernel driver's role in supporting Windows Subsystem For Linux (WSL) use-cases. Phoronix observed this as "an unexpected surprise," given the significant gap since the last release. The updated patches represent a renewed effort to advance DirectX graphics capabilities within WSL. While previous versions of these patches have not been widely adopted into the mainline Linux kernel, this new release continues the work to enable Windows graphics APIs to function effectively within the Linux environment running under WSL.
