SDL Implements Policy Forbidding AI/LLM Generated Code Contributions
Today, the Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) project, a widely used cross-platform development library for games and a core component of the Steam Runtime, implemented a new policy. This policy explicitly prohibits code contributions generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Large Language Models (LLMs). The initiative sets a clear guideline for contributors, ensuring that all submitted code is human-authored. This decision reflects a stance on the provenance of code within critical open-source projects, particularly one with SDL's extensive reach across the gaming and software development landscape.
