Open-Source low_latency_layer Brings Reflex/Anti-Lag 2 to AMD/Intel GPUs on Linux

A new open-source project named low_latency_layer was announced today, targeting improved latency for GPU applications on Linux. This implicit Vulkan layer is designed to enable features similar to AMD Anti-Lag 2 and NVIDIA Reflex 2, which are typically proprietary low-latency technologies, to function more broadly. According to Phoronix, low_latency_layer "reportedly work[s] in a hardware-agnostic manner," allowing AMD and Intel graphics cards to utilize these performance-enhancing capabilities. This development could standardize access to crucial low-latency optimizations across a wider range of Linux GPU hardware, extending benefits previously limited to specific vendor ecosystems.
