Khronos glTF 2.1 Nears Completion; Extends to Complex Scenes, Streamlines Pipeline

The Khronos 3D Formats Working Group recently announced that the glTF 2.1 specification is nearing completion, significantly extending the format's capabilities beyond representing single 3D assets. glTF 2.1 is designed to handle "complex scenes," marking a key expansion in its scope for 3D content. This updated specification also includes enhancements aimed at improving the entire asset pipeline. These improvements are intended to "streamline the journey of an asset from authoring and format conversion, through asset management and optimization, to delivery and toolchain integration." The Khronos Group is currently inviting community feedback as the specification approaches its final release.
