Intel ANV Driver Re-enables Vulkan Video H.264/H.265 Encode for Alchemist GPUs on Linux
The Intel ANV open-source driver recently re-enabled Vulkan Video H.264 and H.265 encode capabilities for Gen12.5 graphics hardware and newer on Linux. This change specifically impacts Intel Arc A-Series GPUs, codenamed Alchemist, and subsequent generations. The Vulkan Video encode functionality had been previously disabled earlier this year due to insufficient testing within the ANV driver. With its re-enablement, Intel Alchemist users can now utilize hardware-accelerated H.264 and H.265 video encoding via the Vulkan API.
