Leadwerks 5.1 Adopts glTF DDS, Khronos PBR Tone Mapper for Enhanced Graphics

Leadwerks 5.1, released recently, enhances its graphics capabilities and asset interoperability by expanding support for Khronos technologies. The update introduces support for the MSFT_texture_dds glTF extension, enabling seamless import and export of 3D models and scenes utilizing DDS compressed textures, while retaining PNG fallbacks for broader compatibility. Furthermore, Leadwerks 5.1 now includes the Khronos PBR Neutral Tone Mapper as an optional world rendering setting. This provides developers with a standardized methodology for achieving accurate, natural-looking color reproduction within physically based rendering (PBR) workflows. According to Leadwerks, "The release demonstrates how Khronos standards continue to help developers build high-performance graphics applications with consistent visual quality and efficient asset pipelines." These additions aim to improve visual fidelity and streamline asset pipelines for developers.
