Haiku OS Progresses NVIDIA Graphics Support with Open Kernel Modules, NVK/Zink

Haiku OS has reportedly made progress in supporting NVIDIA graphics, with momentum observed around the start of the new year. This development utilizes the NVIDIA Open Kernel Modules, in conjunction with the open-source NVK Vulkan driver and Zink for OpenGL translation. NVK is the community-developed Vulkan driver for NVIDIA hardware within Mesa, while Zink facilitates OpenGL execution over a Vulkan backend. This advancement expands NVIDIA GPU compatibility for the BeOS-inspired operating system, enhancing its modern graphics capabilities.
