Phoronix recently published a new round of benchmarks evaluating the performance of the fully open-source NVIDIA Linux driver stack. The testing utilized the Nouveau kernel driver, the Mesa NVK Vulkan driver, and Zink. This performance assessment compared the current open-source stack, featuring Linux 7.0 and Mesa 26.1-dev, against the open-source stack provided by Ubuntu 25.10 (Linux 6.17 + Mesa 25.2). The official NVIDIA Linux graphics driver was also included in the testing to provide a performance baseline. These benchmarks aim to illustrate the progress made by the open-source NVIDIA driver stack over the past few months.
