Intel Commences Development of Jay Open-Source Shader Compiler for Linux Drivers
Intel has recently begun development of Jay, a new open-source shader compiler intended for its OpenGL and Vulkan Linux drivers. This initiative aims to enhance Linux graphics performance, particularly on modern Intel hardware. Phoronix reported today that "Ultimately this Jay shader compiler should help in delivering better Linux graphics performance with modern Intel hardware." The development effort focuses on an open-source solution to integrate with Intel's existing Linux graphics stack. The project is expected to contribute to improved rendering efficiency across Intel's GPU lineup on Linux platforms.
