DXVK 3.1 Adds DXGI Incremental Presentation, D3D11 Buffer Render Targets
DXVK 3.1 was released today, bringing new feature support for Direct3D 8 through 11 implementations atop the Vulkan API. The update introduces basic support for DXGI incremental presentation, which resolves user interface rendering problems in applications such as VirtualDJ and improves compatibility for various game launchers, including Ubisoft Connect. This functionality, when supported by the graphics driver, can leverage VK_KHR_incremental_present to forward dirty rectangles to Vulkan, potentially reducing compositor workload. Additionally, DXVK 3.1 now supports creating render target views on buffers directly. This feature is "primarily used by various older Frostbite engine titles," according to the release notes on GitHub. As a key component of Valve's Steam Play (Proton), these enhancements contribute to broader Windows application and game compatibility on Linux.
