Khronos Developer Day at SIGGRAPH 2026 Updates Open Graphics Standards

The Khronos Group was a central presence at SIGGRAPH 2026 in Los Angeles in late July, showcasing over 20 sessions focused on the future of graphics and spatial computing. On Wednesday, July 22, a dedicated Khronos Developer Day featured status updates from various working groups. These included Vulkan, OpenXR, glTF, WebGL/WebGPU, ANARI, and Slang, alongside insights from the Machine Learning Council. Discussions spanned neural graphics, extended reality (XR), 3D assets, rendering, and real-time shading, highlighting ongoing advancements in open standards for these areas. Khronos stated that the event "delivered a clear snapshot of the future of graphics and spatial computing" by emphasizing the progress and roadmap of their interoperability standards.
